Today is Father’s Day! But why do we celebrate it? The first time it was celebrated was on June 19th, 1910, but was made an official holiday in 1972. It started when a church in West Virginia had a Sunday sermon in remembrance of men who had died at a explosion in a coal mine. Next year a woman named Sonara Dodd, tried to make Father’s Day a reality, and succeeded. At least in the state of Washington. However soon it began to spread until the holiday it is today. How can you celebrate it? You don’t need to buy gifts, to celebrate the hard work your father does everyday. Simply just show him some appreciation and do something you know he’ll like, or something he want’s you to be doing. Because they do so much for us, they deserve all we can give them. Happy Father’s Day!
